Yuffie Kisaragi
You have a chance of running into Yuffie on the world map whenever you are passing through a forested area. The earliest point in the game that you can obtain Yuffie is after you have exited the Mythril Mine and are on your way to Junon (marked as the “Junon Area” on the menu screen).
The chance of Yuffie appearing varies depending on which forest you are exploring. You should prepare to go through several battles in the earlier areas to make her appear.

Yuffie will engage you in combat when you run into her, and defeating her is not too hard. It is a standard battle with no real strategy required, but there are some specific choices that you have to make during the dialog sequence after the fight to convince Yuffie to join your team. Otherwise, she will flee the area and steal some of your Gil while she’s at it!
Warning
Do not use the Save Point that appears after the battle has concluded! Yuffie will steal Gil from you and flee the area if you do.
Talk to her and answer her questions as follows:

Yuffie will scream that you don’t even know her name as you leave her behind. You’ll have the opportunity to name Yuffie, and she’ll join your party.
This sequence has an impact on the Gold Saucer Date that occurs later in the game, as detailed in the notes below.
Side Quests
Dialog choices in this section will impact the Gold Saucer Date scene. After you defeat Yuffie, she will ask Cloud a series of five questions. Each correct answer earns + 2 points with Yuffie. You can encounter Yuffie multiple times before recruiting her, and the points will accumulate each time.
Yuffie will first ask if you want to fight again:

Answering these questions correctly will not prevent you from earning the 
Best Bromance Achievement/Trophy, as it is still possible to recruit Yuffie and have Barret’s affection score remain the highest.
Yuffie has high Dexterity and high Luck but very low Spirit, which means she’s not strong with magic. Still, she can be pretty effective when it comes to stealing and mugging enemies using 
Steal Materia, and she has the advantage of a long-range weapon.
You can place her in the back row, and she will take less damage while her damage output will be unaffected. Check out the Tips and Tricks section for more information about front and back-row mechanics.
Achievement/Trophy
You will automatically obtain the Shuriken Join Us Achievement/Trophy once Yuffie joins your party at the end of the battle and the dialog listed above.
