Treasure Hunter

The Treasure Hunter side quest and Treasure Hunter Rank are part of an optional side quest that is completed during a regular playthrough of the game. The reward for completing the quest is obtaining Rank S and the Rank S Medal key item.

The Treasure Hunter Rank is determined by a points system. You earn 1 point for every treasure chest that you open, every hidden item that you find by searching field screens, every item that you obtain during event sequences, and every key item that you purchase from the Treno Auction House. Treasures dug up from Chocograph locations on the world map are worth 2 points each. Items dug up during the Chocobo Hot & Cold minigame itself and items purchased from Stiltzkin do not count.

Ranks run from F up to S, and reaching Rank S requires 340 points, which works out to roughly 75% of the treasures in the game, so you do not need a perfect run. You can check your current rank at any time by speaking to the four-armed man in Daguerreo or to the woman on the lower floor of the Treno Inn.

Travel to Daguerreo and speak to the four-armed man to receive the reward.
