Limit Breaks: Cid

A full list of Cid’s Limit Breaks are included below. Cid has a total of seven Limit Breaks that he can learn.

Level 1

Boost Jump
How to obtain it:
This is the Limit Break that Cid starts the game with.
Effect:
Deals damage to a single enemy. It does 3.25x the normal damage that Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command.

Dynamite
How to obtain it:
Use Boost Jump a total of 7 times in battle.
Effect:
Deals damage to all enemies on the battlefield. It will deal 2.25x the normal damage the Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command.

Level 2

Hyper Jump
How to obtain it:
Defeat 60 enemies in battle.
Effect:
Deals damage to all enemies on the battlefield. It will deal 3.25x the normal damage the Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command. It also has a 20% chance of inflicting “Instant Death” on all enemies. Note that this will never effect any enemy that is immune to the “Instant Death” effect which typically includes all high level enemies and bosses.

Dragon
How to obtain it:
Use Hyper Jump a total of 6 times in battle.
Effect:
Deals damage to a single enemy. It does 1.25x the normal damage that Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command. It will also heal Cid’s HP and MP for 25% of the damage done to the target.

Level 3

Dragon Dive
How to obtain it:
Defeat 76 enemies in battle after you have obtained Hyper Jump.
Effect:
Deals damage randomly to any enemy on the battlefield. Dragon Dive attacks a total of six times and will each hit each time for 1.4375x the damage that Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command. There is no way to direct the attacks and they will hit enemies randomly potentially resulting in them all hitting the same target. It also has a 28% chance of inflicting “Instant Death” on all enemies. Note that this will never effect any enemy that is immune to the “Instant Death” effect which typically includes all high level enemies and bosses.

Big Brawl
How to obtain it:
Use Dragon Dive a total of 5 times in battle.
Effect:
Deals damage randomly to any enemy on the battlefield. Big Brawl attacks a total of eight times and will each hit each time for 1.125x the damage that Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command. There is no way to direct the attacks and they will hit enemies randomly potentially resulting in them all hitting the same target.

Level 4

Highwind
How to obtain it:
Use the Highwind item to teach this Limit Break to Cid. You can find the Highwind item in the Sunken Gelnika. Check out the Sunken Gelnika side quest section for additional details.
Effect:
Deals damage randomly to any enemy on the battlefield. Cid will call forth the Highwind to attack the enemies with missiles which will hit for a total of 18 attacks. All of the attacks (including the final attack) will hit for 0.6875x the damage that Cid’s weapon does when using the Attack command.

Gale Warning

You will also receive the Gale Warning Trophy once you teach Cid his Level 4 Limit Break, Highwind, using the Highwind item that you can obtain in the Sunken Gelnika.
