Red XIII’s Limit Breaks
A complete list of Red XIII’s Limit Breaks are included below. Red XIII has a total of seven Limit Breaks that he can learn.
Level 1
Sled Fang
- How to obtain it:
- This is the Limit Break that Red XIII starts the game with.
- Effect:
- Deals damage to a single enemy. It does 3.0x the normal damage that Red XIII’s weapon does when using the Attack command.
Lunatic High
- How to obtain it:
- Use Sled Fang a total of 8 times in battle.
- Effect:
- Casts Haste on the entire party and temporarily raises Red XIII’s defense by 50% for each team member that he successfully casts it on (i.e. if they are still alive).
Level 2
Blood Fang
- How to obtain it:
- Defeat 72 enemies in battle.
- Effect:
- Deals damage to a single enemy. It does 1.25x the normal damage that Red XIII’s weapon does when using the Attack command. This attack will also absorb HP and MP equal to 25% of the damage done to the target.
Stardust Ray
- How to obtain it:
- Use Blood Fang a total of 7 times in battle.
- Effect:
- Deals damage randomly to any enemy on the battlefield. Stardust Ray launches stars towards enemies which will each hit for 0.625x the damage that Red XIII’s weapon does when using the Attack command. There is no way to direct the stars and they will hit enemies randomly potentially resulting in them all hitting the same target.
Level 3
Howling Moon
- How to obtain it:
- Defeat 72 enemies in battle after you have obtained Blood Fang.
- Effect:
- Casts Haste and Berserk on the Red XIII boosting his attack damage by up to 60%.
Earth Rave
- How to obtain it:
- Use Howling Moon a total of 6 times in battle.
- Effect:
- Deals damage randomly to any enemy on the battlefield. Red XIII will attack a total of 5 times. All the attacks (including the final attack) will hit for 1.875x the damage that Red XIII’s weapon does when using the Attack command.
Level 4
Cosmo Memory
- How to obtain it:
- Use the
Cosmo Memory item to teach this Limit Break to Red XIII. You can find the Cosmo Memory item in the safe of the Shinra Mansion when you obtain Vincent as a playable character. Read the Vincent Optional Character section for more information. - Effect:
- Deals damage to all enemies on the battlefield. It does 7.8125x the normal damage that Red XIII’s weapon does when using the Attack command.

A Universe of Pain Achievement/Trophy once you teach Red XIII his Level 4 Limit Break, Cosmo Memory, using the Cosmo Memory item that you can obtain in the Shinra Mansion.
