Auron

Auron is a legendary Guardian who previously traveled with Tidus’ father, Jecht. He rejoins the party in Luca and is the party’s hardest-hitting physical attacker from the moment he arrives.

Sphere Grid Path

Auron’s section of the Sphere Grid is built around raw physical power and debuffs. His path has the highest concentration of HP and Strength nodes among all characters. He learns the four Break abilities (Skill IconPower Break, Skill IconMagic Break, Skill IconArmor Break, Skill IconMental Break) as well as their stronger Breaker variants, Special Ability IconGuard, Special Ability IconSentinel, and Special Ability IconEntrust. His path also includes the Shooting Star ability for his Overdrive.

His path connects to Tidus’ section, allowing him to pick up time manipulation abilities like Skill IconDelay Attack and White Magic IconHaste if he continues past his own section.

Strengths

Auron is the party’s best physical damage dealer and debuffer:

Limitations

Auron’s biggest weakness is his low Agility (5, the lowest in the party alongside Lulu). He gets fewer turns than other characters, which becomes a significant disadvantage in the endgame when Speed is the most important stat. Quick Hit (on Tidus’ path) partially addresses this, but Auron needs considerable Sphere Grid progression to reach it.

He has no healing, support, or magic abilities on his natural path. He is a pure physical character, which limits his flexibility.

His base Magic (5) and Magic Defense (5) are among the lowest in the party, making him vulnerable to magical attacks until his Magic Defense is improved through the Sphere Grid.

On the positive side, his Celestial Weapon, Blade Weapon IconMasamune, is one of the easiest to obtain. The Mars SigilSaturn Sigil is a reward for unlocking 10 Area Creations in the Monster Arena, which most players will accomplish naturally during endgame progression.

Bushido

Auron’s Overdrive, Bushido, requires entering a button sequence within a time limit. The faster you enter the combination, the more damage it deals. He has four Bushido abilities: Dragon Fang (hits all enemies), Shooting Star (can eject a non-boss enemy from battle), Banishing Blade (inflicts multiple Break effects), and Tornado (hits all enemies with heavy damage). Bushido is reliable and deals good damage across the board. Check out the Bushido page in the Overdrives section for more information.
