This section of the guide is intended to provide you with additional reminders and advice as you progress up each floor of Iutycyr Tower. Before beginning your climb, it’s recommended that you read through the other sections listed on the index for advice and advanced tips and tricks. But even with all of that information, here are some things you should be aware of:
The first floor always has an extra Dressphere for you to pick up. Ideally, it’s one that you want or need, and it’s quick and easy to reset the game at this point if you don’t want to get too far in with bad Dresspheres.
You don’t have much HP at this point, so get used to passing turns ( + ) at room entrances so you always get the first attack in.
Equip all the Dresspheres you pick up until all of your secondary equipment slots are full. Even if you don’t plan to keep them, you can still benefit from the stat boost, even if it’s only temporary.
Every tenth floor (10, 20, 30, and so on) ends with a treasure of 1 to 6 random items, but you only receive them if you have free inventory space, so clear out some room before each one.
Lesser Drakes breathe fire over very large areas with their “Flame Breath” attack. Run in quickly so you don’t take too much damage, or activate the Fireproof Auto-Ability by equipping the Gunner and White Mage Dresspheres, if you can get them.
Bully Caps cast Thunder from 3 squares away. Similar to the Lesser Drake strategy, you can equip a Black Mage and Trainer Dressphere to activate the Lightningproof Auto-Ability.

Defeat 10 enemies and take an action other than moving.
Protean Gels (Floor 13+) cast Blizzard from a distance. You can activate the Iceproof Auto-Ability by equipping a Berserker and Songstress Dressphere to make things much easier.
Protean Gels can only attack from their corners or straight on, so stay between those lines of attack to avoid getting hit.
Cactuars appear on Floor 15. Either avoid them or use Black Magic from a distance. If you encounter one in a hallway, it can be problematic if you don’t have magic to defeat it, and you may have to restart when it destroys your primary Dressphere with its counterattack.
King Takoubas (Floor 17+) can inflict the Confuse status effect, which causes your character to de-equip and throw items away. It’s extremely annoying, and if your items hit an active enemy, the item might disappear forever. Equip a Gunner and Dark Knight Dressphere to activate Confuseproof before you get too close.
If Doom is cast on you, defeating the enemy that cast it stops the countdown, and taking the elevator clears it completely.
Creepers explode if you don’t defeat them with one attack. You can use a Black Mage spell to defeat them in one hit.
Fly Eyes can inflict the Sleep status effect. Keep your HP up as they’ll get several attacks in while your character is sleeping away.
Floor
Elevator Unlock Requirements
25
Defeat 8 fiends, take an action other than moving, and throw 2 items.
30
Defeat 8 fiends, take an action other than moving, and drink 2 potions.
Takoubas (Floors 37–39) can cause the “Confuse” status again, so be ready with Confuseproof.
You should be assembling the items for the Tonberry Area: three Find Secret Rooms and two Save Memos. You need to have all of them by Floor 60. If you have none, consider a restart. Bad luck, unfortunately.
Defeat 8 fiends, take an action other than moving, drop 3 items, and attack empty space 5 times.
Steal Triple Tiara from the Founder on Floor 44. If you miss it, you can try again on Floor 66, but this is an incredibly powerful item. It may be worth restarting your game if it doesn’t set you back too many floors… but there should be no reason to miss it.
Zurvans cast Doom on Floors 41–44. Use Doomproof and then switch to Confuseproof from Floor 45 onward to deal with attacks from Protochimeras.
Bombs can’t attack you when you’re right next to them; they can only cast spells. Approach them without standing in their line of fire to reduce incoming damage. If you damage one without defeating it, though, it will explode, so finish it off in a single turn.
Spine Drakes breathe ice over a huge area. Close in fast, let them come to the doorway, or use Iceproof.

Defeat 8 fiends, take an action other than moving, read 2 folios, and attack empty space 5 times.
50
Defeat 10 enemies, take an action other than moving, and pass 5 turns.
Bolt Drakes can hit a wide range with their “Thunder Breath” attack. Use Lightningproof if you have access to it.
Mycotoxins can inflict the Sleep status effect. As you did against Fly Eyes, keep your HP up, since they’ll get several attacks in while your character sleeps.
Pop Frys are another large enemy that deals heavy damage, but because of their size, it’s easy to attack from a distance and avoid getting hit.
Make sure to save your game when you leave Floor 60. The steps for reaching the Tonberry Area rely on this save file.
Boss Prep: For the Floor 60 boss, equip the Triple Tiara to make the fight much easier.

Floor 61 is where you should begin the process to visit the Tonberry Area. Check out that section of the guide for more information. You can technically do it earlier, but it’s better to do it on this floor.
Protect against Doom by activating Doomproof. Mega Tonberrys can cast Damnation (which causes Doom).
Varans (Floors 65–66) and Taromaitis (Floor 69) cast Damnation, so keep Doomproof active for those floors as well.
Hug Bugs, Detonators, and Hexapods explode if you don’t defeat them in a single attack.

Wait for the Founder to appear and take an action other than moving.
70
Turn into a Leblanc Goon (read a Goon Bookmark or let the Founder change you) and take an action other than moving. If you let the Founder change you, take your action and board the elevator right away, before he can touch you a second time.
Malboros inflict Poison, Silence, and Slow at the same time. Try not to get hit or be ready to deal with these status effects.
Cactuars return on Floors 75–77 and should be avoided or defeated with a Black Mage magic spell.
Rhyos can confuse you, and Vertigos can put you to sleep. Keep Confuseproof activated.
On Floor 77, don’t take the elevator. Let the Founder touch you twice to go straight to Floor 80.
If you take the elevator, Floors 78–79 are a dead end, and the Founder sends you back to 77.
Boss Prep: bring Confuseproof. Its Quake can confuse you.
You fight the boss three times in a row. Equip the Triple Tiara and Valkyrie Nails if you have one for more critical hits.
Ignore the Fractus minions in rounds two and three. They disappear when you defeat the boss. Turn back toward the boss after they hit you to make sure you’re attacking Major Numerus. Round three opens with a silencing attack, so heal before round two ends or have items ready.
