Titan
Clive earns the essence of Titan following the battle against Hugo after completing the Capital Punishment Main Scenario Quest. It’s at this point of the game that you will have access to more than three Eikons and will have to make some decisions about which of them you plan to use. As a reminder, this strategy guide includes an Ability Recommendations page in the Tips and Tricks section. However, you can customize your abilities (or “loadouts” as some people call them) and add whichever abilities you want.

Titan’s Eikonic Feat and Eikonic Abilities fall much more on the defensive side of the spectrum, at least as far as Titanic Block goes. Instead of continuing to use
Dodge and
Precision Dodge, you end up trying to block attacks instead of avoiding them. This causes Clive to be a lot less mobile, and you also run into the problem of some attacks not being blockable. You’ll still have access to Dodge with
, but Titan offers a playstyle that may not jive with all players.

Titanic Block
Eikonic Feat
Block enemy attacks. When a guard is times perfectly, can be used to launch up to three counterattacks.
Tips and Tricks
- As noted above, this ability is meant to be an alternative to
Dodge and
Precision Dodge, and it works very similarly. You would use
to initiate a block and then launch up to three counterattacks with
.
- Should you use Titanic Block instead of dodging? There are several pros and cons to consider. Some of the benefits include the fact that you get up to three counterattacks if you manage to trigger a ‘precise block.’ Blocks also help to build up the Limit Break gauge so you can trigger a
Limit Break.
- The drawbacks are related to mobility. Clive can still dodge attacks with
, but this requires a change in playstyle that requires you to use Clive with a more defensive posture. This can cause you to be standing around holding up the blocker instead of being more offensive and, for example, launching
Magic or
Charged Magic while you’re waiting for an attack. As a result of these drawbacks, Titanic Block is not considered one of the stronger Eikonic Feats. Even if you do use it once you gain access to it, you should swap it out for
Cold Snap when that alternative becomes available.

Windup
Eikonic Ability
Punch forward. Hold button to wind up attack, further increasing potency.
Tips and Tricks
- Windup is a powerful single-target ability that works well for inflicting high amounts of damage, especially during a stagger window. You need to trigger the attack when the charging animation is in the “red” to trigger maximum damage, but once you get the timing down, you can use this ability to greatly increase stagger damage.
- This ability synergizes well with other Titan abilities like
Upheaval, which briefly roots enemies in place, allowing you to line up and target a Windup attack.
- Accessing this ability is quite often what allows players to earn the It’s Over 50,000 achievement/trophy. Check out the achievement/trophy section for more details.
- Windup can and probably should be replaced by even stronger abilities you receive later on in the game, including
Gigaflare,
Diamond Dust, and Zantetsuken (from
Arm of Darkness).
- The biggest drawback of this ability is that it can be tough to line up the attack. Enemies might move, or if you’re fighting more than one enemy, you may get hit while you’re trying to target the attack.

Upheaval
Eikonic Ability
Slam a fist to the ground, dealing damage to all enemies within range. Hold button to increase range. Can be used in midair.
Tips and Tricks
- This is another strong Area of Effect (AoE) attack that hits all of the enemies around Clive, but it suffers from the same problem as
Wicked Wheel before it, in that enemies need to be clustered and grouped up pretty tightly for them to be impacted by the damage.
- You can hold the attack to increase the range, but this leaves Clive open to attack. Upgrading the ability can reduce the impact of this downside.
- Not very helpful against a single target, against a Notorious Mark, or a boss.

Raging Fists
Eikonic Ability
Step forward and deliver a blinding flurry of high-speed punches. Blocking an enemy attack with the step forward increases the potency of the following punches.
Tips and Tricks
- Triggers a very powerful counterattack if used at the exact moment that an enemy attempts to attack (i.e., during the parry window), but otherwise, it deals an average amount of damage.
- Useless against ranged attacks, magic attacks, and otherwise unblockable enemy moves.
- The biggest problem with this attack is that it’s competing for the same trigger that so many of Clive’s other abilities are vying for. Are you trying to execute a
Precision Dodge? A
Titanic Block? Or use Raging Fists? It can’t be all three, and granted, trying to get this ability off a few times during a battle can do wonders for depleting an enemy’s “Will Gauge,” there are other abilities that work better in its place.
Ability-Related Accessories

Earthen Fury
Eikonic Ability
Drive both hands into the ground, causing the land to surge upwards, sending nearby smaller enemies flying.
Tips and Tricks
- This ultimate ability can be used against a single target, but it really shines against large groups of enemies. It deals a lot of damage but isn’t the greatest ability when it comes to its impact on an enemy’s “Will Gauge.”
- It can be used to interrupt an enemy’s attack or spell channeling, but it’s difficult to aim and is less effective against quicker-moving targets. It’s not great for Notorious Mark fights, boss battles, or during a stagger window.
