Overview

The Gunner Dressphere gets a bad rap, mainly because it performs terribly in the first couple of fights. If you’re like most players, you’ll try out Trigger Happy during the first fight, find that it does next to no damage to Logos or Ormi, and then move Yuna into either a Warrior or Thief role to get more damage.

What most players miss, though, is how quickly Trigger Happy scales and how much more damage it starts to deal once Yuna (or the other characters) get a little more built up behind their Strength stat. You can also increase the amount of time you have to smash the button by having them learn Trigger Happy Lv. 2 and Trigger Happy Lv. 3. In fact, misconceptions about this role are so prevalent that this section includes a video with more detail.

Gunners can also learn Darkproof and Sleepproof, which makes them much more resilient in battle. It’s worth leveling up all three of your character’s Gunner roles for some of the later fights in the Via Infinito, where Trigger Happy alone can help you turn the tide of battle.
