Thunder Plains - Concert
Speak to Buddy, and he’ll say “we’re over the Thunder Plains,” giving you just the one place that you can land the Celsius right now. Yuna will be greeted by a Hypello when she lands, and the Hypello will tell her about some fiends attacking the spectators. This will be your next Mission.
Before you start the Mission, though, the Thunder Plains is full of treasure chests again. You can use the maps below if you decide to go and track them down:
Thunder Plains South
| Fiend Haunt |
Thunder Plains North
Mission: Concert Clean-up
A new cave will open up on the east side of the Thunder Plains. Follow the red arrow () on the mini-map to reach it.
Fiend Haunt
This new cave that you enter is called the “Fiend Haunt.” It’s pretty easy to navigate around, with the boss located in the north section of the dungeon. The only thing to note is that a few paths are one-way. Start by heading left/west and then use the map below to help you track down the treasure chests:
Fiend Haunt
You can see the next boss, the Zalamander, resting at the north end of the cave. Touch it when you’re ready to initiate the battle. Equipping an
Icy Gleam accessory to one of your characters who will be occupying a physical damage-dealing role (like a
Dark Knight or
Lady Luck) can be helpful, and start with a character in the
Thief role.
Boss Battle
This boss is weak to ice-based damage, but it’s also immune to magic spells, so exploit the weakness with ice-elemental physical attacks like a
Warrior’s
Ice Brand, or with damage items like
Arctic Winds. Any characters with an
Icy Gleam equipped will also be able to exploit this weakness.
Zalamander doesn’t have any surprises and has a fixed attack pattern which goes:
- Regular attack (x2)
- “Flame Breath”
- Regular attack (x2)
- “Tail Smash”
Each of these attacks deals fairly heavy damage, though, so you may need to keep one of your party members in a permanent healing role (
Alchemist or
White Mage). You can also
Steal or
Mug a
Sublimator from it, which is a pretty nice accessory.
| Enemy | HP | Steal | Drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zalamander | 12850 | Subliminator |
The Mission doesn’t end after you defeat the Zalamander directly, so you can pick up any treasure chests you haven’t opened on your way out of the cave. The Mission completes once you make it out, and then you can move on to the concert!
Celsius
Brother will be running around the bridge of the ship like a crazy person. The first step is to talk to either Buddy or Brother; it doesn’t matter which of the two you choose, because the result will be the same. Rikku will run over to the CommSphere. Speak to her, and she’ll mention that the crowd is “acting kinda funny.” Shinra will activate the CommSpheres to watch and listen to the crowd.
After observing the crowd interactions and a few more conversations on the bridge of the ship, Tobli will make a few pronouncements before joining Brother to run around wildly. Now both of them are running around the bridge like crazy people!
Talk to Tobli and select “On with the show!” when you’re ready to kick off the concert. And enjoy the “1000 Words” FMV/song!
Yuna will reawaken in the cabin after the concert. Follow Rikku and Paine back to the bridge of the Celsius, and the next discussion/story with Maechen will begin automatically. There’s no chance to interrupt him this time accidentally.
Warning
Note that it’s possible to wander over and talk to Shinra right now, which ends the chapter. Doing that before visiting the engine room permanently forfeits Leblanc’s line, her 0.2%, and
Crimson Sphere 5, and without that sphere the Den of Woe can never be opened. Make sure you go down to the engine room first!
Leblanc’s gang will suddenly appear aboard the airship. Take the elevator down to the engine room to meet with Leblanc, Ormi, and Logos (and grab the treasure chests if you forgot to earlier). Head back up to the bridge to have Shinra pull up the Crimson Sphere 5 transmission.
Make sure you head down to the engine room, where Leblanc hands over
Crimson Sphere 5. Her line there is also missable dialogue.
Leblanc will storm off after the Sphere fails to help her figure out where Nooj is, so she decides to find him herself. The team decides that they’re going to have to access the Farplane through one of the newly opened holes… and this marks the end of Chapter 4. On to the final chapter of the game!
Checking the “Chapter 4 Complete” box adds the Story Completion Percent for the automatic scenes at the end of Chapter 4.
